Cultural landmarks, such as the Dr. Seuss Museum and the Concord Museum, emphasize historical integrity through carefully selected stone. Hospitality projects, like The Range Restaurant, feature intricate fireplaces and outdoor dining spaces with a variety of stone veneers to enhance aesthetics and functionality.
Merchants Row
Dean Marsico, manager of commercial sales for Hingham’s Plymouth Quarries, assisted Studio Troika architects and developer F.P. Giglio Properties with the stone for the 10-acre Merchants Row complex.
Merchants Row is interconnected by a combination of landscaped green spaces and a central courtyard designed with over 4,000 s/f of Plymouth Quarries’ exclusive Giallo stone, imported direct from Italy. The Plymouth Quarries team fabricated over 1,600 s/f of Black Pearl Granite, and over 2,000 s/f of their newest thin stone veneer product for the project.
According to Marsico during development, “Merchants Row will look like a shopping center straight out of Rome, when the last stone is placed. It will be full of architecturally unique designs that are as beautiful to look at, as they are functional. We grew up and now live on the South Shore and love the idea of being able to use our love of design and our craftsmanship to help revitalize this community.”
Mr. Giglio’s concept was to create a modern streetscape retail space with old-world charm. The redesign started with the complete demolition of the old Hanover shopping site and the creation of a new 62,000 s/f single-story complex with mixed retail, restaurants, and shops.
Please stop by 2053 Washington St., Hanover to experience the amazing new Merchants Row. Or stop by Plymouth Quarries' showroom to see the many varieties of Giallo stone for indoor and outdoor spaces.

The Range Restaurant & Driving Range, Hingham MA
The cathedral outdoor fireplace at The Range in Hingham, MA, is 10 feet wide by 22 feet high. It tiers in twice with Blue Mist Granite caps. Plymouth Quarries’ Weymouth Granite is used in the body of the hearth, columns, and corners of the fireplace.

The granite creates a “quoin look” against the Liberty Hill and Hampton stonework that makes up the body of the fireplace. The low walls with Blue Mist Granite caps help to create a beautiful outdoor dining area.
All of these products are Thin Veneer natural stone supplied by Plymouth Quarries.

Historical
The Historical Collection (work in progess) documents notable buildings, institutions, and architectural projects associated with Weymouth Granite and the historic quarrying tradition of coastal Massachusetts. Featuring documented examples from museums, universities, churches, and public landmarks, these stories connect the region's granite industry to influential architects, master builders, and some of America's most enduring structures. Through historical research, photographs, and primary sources, this collection preserves the legacy of one of New England's most distinctive building stones.
