Base Materials & Fills
Base materials are those materials used for building or installing something when a good, solid, compactable, structural material is needed. It is typically used under driveways, walkways, roadways, sidewalks and buildings. The exact material used is dependent on the application and desired thickness.
Fills are are typically used under lawns and landscape areas and around buildings, when the project does not require a solid, compactable, structural material. The exact material used is dependent on the application and desired thickness. Below is a list of the Base and Fill materials we offer. We would be happy to assist you in determining the best material for your job. Just contact us with the details!
Smaller materials removed in the Loam screening process. Consists of mostly rock ranging in size from 1/2″ to 4″ and contains small roots and twigs. Used in shallow fills, wet areas and as a temporary access road through loamy and wet areas. Easier to carry a grade with than the larger tailings. Also used to cap off the larger tailings.
A general soil material that is screened through a 3″ deck opening and is used for fills less that 12″ depth. It is easier to maintain a grade than the Bony Fill. Used for shallow fills under yards and lawn area. This material is not a Bank Gravel and will not pass compaction test requirements.
Asphalt produced by the mechanical grinding of asphalt roadways. These are not produced in a manufacturing process so size and gradation vary.
A hard, durable stone that combines crushed stone and coarse stone screenings together to make a good compacting material.
Consists of reclaimed asphalt products that are crushed to make a well graded material used under or as a finished surface on driveways, roadways, and parking areas when a good compactable material is needed. Generally installed in a thickness between 4″ and 8″.
A hard, durable stone that combines crushed stone and coarse stone screenings together to make a good compacting material. Generally installed in a minimum of 6″ thickness and then compacted. Used under driveways, roadways, parking areas, sidewalks, patios and other places requiring a good compactable material.
