Whether you are revamping an older fireplace or creating a new one there are many decisions to make. Brick or stone? Thin or Full Veneer? Cut and color? It can be overwhelming to make the right choice for your home so here are a four things to think about
1. "What Don't You Like?" this is the better question to ask instead of "What Do You Like?" Many customers don't know what they like. They can get overwhelmed with making the right choice or any choice at all. When I start a conversation with "What don't you like?" it helps us eliminate about 50% of options. Then we can start moving towards the bset decision for them.
2. Size and Cut - Brick are mainly the same size but they can have different appearances like tumbled, distressed or clean edged. For stone there are four different cuts. Ledge Cut is 1" to 4" high x various lengths, Ashlar or Strip cut is 4" + high x various lengths, Square & Rectangular cut is the largest face value cut and Mosaic cut is irregular shapes. Additional to these four cuts is another category of Round Stone Thin Veneer. These River Stones and Fieldstones are a great product to help create a rustic/non-linear look with your designs.
3. Thin Stone and Thin Brick Veneer are cut from full stone/brick options of the products. There are cultured stone veneers made from a colored cement/concrete base but thin veneer does not mean just the cultured option. The majority of thin veneer options come with flats and corners to solve any veneer design requirements.
4. Color options are endless and the best part is you can mix stones/bricks to create any color or style you want. You can also mix different cuts, even mixing stone and brick. Photos below explain.
